Until now, the history of the Myott Pottery in Stoke and Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent has been very sparse and, in some parts, inaccurate. This is due to a fire that occurred in 1949 and caused considerable damage. Office records were destroyed and it is possible that Myott pattern and design books were also destroyed.
As collectors of Myott ware, we have been researching the Myott family and their various business interests for the past four years. We have tabulated nearly 500 patterns and Myott names attributed to some of their Art Deco pieces.
We have now published a book identifying the history of the Myott Pottery (or as it was more properly known, the Alexander Pottery) from 1898 to 1991, at which time it was sold to the Churchill Group.
